Tornado

We had a very eventful Saturday night. After a lovely, warm day of walks around town and dinner with friends...a tornado rolled in a destroyed several homes and farms. 

Ryan and I got home from having dinner at a friend's house around 9:10pm as it was pouring down rain and hailing. I looked at the weather online and it said we were in a tornado warning. We grabbed blankets and our phones and our little family headed down to the crawl space.

Here we are huddled in the crawl space...happy because we are safe from the storm.
We also spent a lot of time in prayer while we were waiting for the storm to pass. Thank you God for keeping us safe.

Kennedy slept the entire time...and through the night I might add. What a trooper.

 We spent over an hour and a half down there until it was safe to come up. After coming up our friends stopped over saying that their grandpa's house (and several others) had been destroyed by the tornado. Below is a picture of the house.

After the warnings had expired, Ryan and a friend decided to go out driving to see if anyone needed help. So I wouldn't be alone, I went to the pastor's house (2 houses down) and stayed their with the pastor's wife and 4 kids. Ryan and I ended up staying over night there in the basement to be safe. Ryan and a friend headed out to a very close friend's of ours house/farm. Their house was also destroyed...it looked like a bomb went off. They are also hog farmers and there were hogs (dead and alive) strewn all over their property. They stayed there for quite some time gathering up the live ones and gating them in. They did this until the weather turned bad again. Below is a picture of that house...there were several people there to help them clean up this morning, so it isn't the best picture because of the cars blocking the house...it is a total loss.

Now we are left to clean up. Ryan has spent time at each of these houses today cleaning up the mess. There is still so much to be done. As far as our town goes, there are several large trees down...some on houses, other just in yards...it will be a long road to get everything back to "normal" again.

Please be in prayer for our community as we rebuild. Also be in prayer for the other towns that were greatly affected by the tornadoes.
