Oh yeah...we bought a HOUSE!!!

Over the past month we have been in the process of buying our FIRST HOUSE! We have been keeping our eyes open for a place in the area for a year now, and we have finally found it.
Buckle your seat belts...here comes a story.

After setting up 2 different times to view 2 different houses with our realtor...and having each one sold within 24 hours of when we were supposed to view it, Ryan and I decided to give the house hunting a break.
We were constantly in prayer about finding the perfect house for us, and obviously God closed the door on these other houses. Well, a house was for sale just a block and a half from the place we are currently renting. We got in touch with our realtor to set up a time to view it...she said she was so busy that she'd pass our name off to another realtor instead. So we go see this house...and well, it was fine. Pretty small, but it was a house (also there were some problems with the foundation). The realtor did inform us that an offer had already been put in for the house (big surprise huh...only the 3rd time that has happened.). Anyway, we told the realtor what our dream house would be....old farmhouse, out in the country, etc...She then begins to tell us that she just came from listing a house just like that. ARE YOU SERIOUS!?
Well, we set up a time to view the house the next day...we were the first ones to see this house. We loved the place and the location is PERFECT! Here was the problem...we were planning on leaving on vacation in just a few days. We didn't want to wait until we came back to move forward on this. So, we invited Ryan's parents to come and take a look and tell us their thoughts on what we should do. They said they would buy it if they were us. They didn't see any major problems with it.
So here goes, we start negotiating...and to make an already long story short, they accepted our offer (contingent upon inspection). The inspection came back with no red flags. Wow, was this really happening?! We finally found it? In the agreement the seller's were going to build a brand new garage. In the tornado, mentioned here, the old garage got destroyed. The tornado also took down 2 big trees on both sides of the house. So now we are waiting for the garage to be finished.
Our closing date is set for the end of September, but there is a chance we could close sooner. Thank you, God, for this incredibly blessing!

Now for some pictures...
Did I mention this house sits on a little over 3 acres?!
This is where the garage will be built.
I have pictures of the inside...but I'll save that for a later post. There are some things that need to be done and I'd like to do a little before and after post.

Okay, okay...here are a couple pictures of the inside.
My giant kitchen!
Someday I will put an island here...
Ryan and I have already started a wish list for things that we want to do to this house over time...I can't wait!
Part of the dining room area
Looking in to the living room...and a lovely view of the stairs.
The carpet on the stairs matches the carpet of the place we're renting. Isn't that sweet...

More to come... :)
